Hello Year 3,
This week, the children have enjoyed learning a poem about the water cycle. We explored poetic features such as alliteration, rhythm, and rhyme, and spent some time having fun with nonsense poems and tongue twisters. The children also took part in a water cycle experiment using cling film and ice to see how evaporation and condensation work — they were fascinated to watch the process in action.
In Maths, Miss Stone’s group have been practising their number bonds, while Miss Worlock’s group have been working on adding 1s, 10s, and 100s to three-digit numbers.
In PSHE, we have been thinking about friendship. In Art, the children used their imagination to draw flowers, focusing on line, shape, and tone.
We also had an enjoyable time at the “Sounds Rubbish” workshop on Monday, where we explored rhythm through drumming. On Friday, we took part in our sponsored singathon and football match — well done to everyone for taking part.
Next Week
Next week, we will be writing our own nature poems, using the poetic features we have been learning about. In PSHE, we will be exploring conflict versus bullying — understanding what bullying is, its impact, and what help is available if someone is being bullied.
Reminders
PE on Monday and Tuesday. Miss Stone’s class are swimming on Tuesday.
Homework and reading is due on Thursday.
Thank you for your continued support,
The Year 3 team.
