Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. The big news in our classroom this week is…we have caterpillars! This is an annual tradition – we watch our caterpillar grow and then make their own chrysalises, and then (hopefully) we watch some beautiful butterflies emerge two weeks later! Watch this space for updates!
This week, we have been up to the following:
- In literacy, we continue to read the Dick King Smith classic, The Hodgeheg.
- In maths, we are either learning about 2D and 3D shapes, or we are working on measuring distance.
- In history, we learned about the invention of the steam engine. Next week, we’ll be learning about the first steam-powered railway in Britain.
- In art, we have been producing some beautiful landscapes based on Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night.
- In computing, we storyboarded the films we’re making for Newsround about our Sports Day. Next week, we shoot them!
PE and swimming
As well as PE for everyone on Monday, this week it is the turn of Miss Lunnon’s class to go swimming. Mr Burrows’ class should come to school in PE kit.
Sports Day
Please remember that ahead of our Sports Day next Tuesday (24th June), we’re asking for all children to come to school wearing a T shirt that is the same colour as their house. Thank you!
Enjoy the sunshine this weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning.
