Term 4 Week 3 update

Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. Excitement is building for our trip to Hill End Adventure Centre next week. More details about the day are in this update.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have been writing our mystery stories. Who stole Rhubarb? Ask your children who the culprit was and what the clues were! Next week, we’ll be looking at our new topic of science fiction.
  • In maths, we’re finishing our work on multiplication and division and will be looking at fractions next week. For some more information on how we teach fractions in our school, have a look at our Maths Made Clear video on the subject.
  • In history, we thought about how we actually know what life was like in the Stone Age by looking at Skara Brae, the Neolithic settlement found on Orkney. Next week, we’ll be going to Hill End!
  • In computing, we started a project making PowerPoint presentations about the Stone Age. At the end of each lesson, we then emailed them to a pair in the other class so that they can continue them, Collaborative working!
  • In RE, we learned about how Catholics say sorry to God when they break the rules by going to confessionals.

(No) swimming and PE

Please remember that, as there is no swimming for Year 3 this term, children should come into school in PE kit on both Mondays and Tuesdays.

Hill End

We’re just a few days away from the Hill End trip! Please remember that each class goes separately:

  • Wednesday 19th – Mr. Burrows’ class
  • Thursday 20th – Miss Lunnon’s class

The trip is Stone-Age themed, and we will be spending the whole day outside. This means that warm, waterproof clothes and footwear suitable for the weather is absolutely vital. Your child will also need a packed lunch & water. If you require a Kites Kitchen packed lunch to be provided for your child, please complete this form.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning.
