Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. We trust you had a fun and restful break. It’s difficult to believe that your children are now closer to Year 4 than Year 2, but that is where we are!
This week, your children have been up to the following:
- In literacy, we have been learning about the features of a good mystery story. Next week, we’ll be developing our own mystery stories based on the most unimaginably awful event: Rhubarb is stolen from Mrs. Salmons’ office!
- In maths, we have been multiplying and dividing two-digit numbers by one digit.
- In history, we started our new topic of The Stone Age by considering how early Stone Age managed to survive. Next week, we’ll be looking at how things changed for people living in the Stone Age as time went on.
- In computing, we started our new topic of emailing by discussing why it is so important these days, and how to make sure you keep safe when opening emails. Next week, we’ll continue the conversation about keeping safe online.
- In science, we looked at the different classifications of rocks. Next week, we’ll be grouping them.
PE and swimming
A quick reminder that Year 3 does not have any swimming in Term 4. Children should come to school in PE kit on Mondays and Tuesdays during this term.
Forest Camp
Members of Year 3 will have Forest Camp on the next couple of Fridays.
On the day of your child’s Forest Camp session:
- They may come to school in their Forest Camp clothes: any long-sleeved top and trousers that you don’t mind getting dirty!
- They need to wear their school shoes or clean trainers in the morning as they will be in the classroom as normal.
-
They need to bring wellies and waterproofs (in a separate bag) to wear in the afternoon.
