Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Term 2 Week 6 update

Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. We’re almost there!

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have spent a bit of time reminding ourselves about conjunctions. For the first half of next week, we’ll be learning about subordinate conjunctions. Here’s an explainer page, if you are interested.
  • In maths, we’re staring the light at the end of the ‘addition and subtraction’ tunnel in the face!
  • In geography, we made leaflets showing some of London’s most famous landmarks. Next week, we’ll be looking at how our country has changed over the years.
  • In RE, we learned about how Buddhists make moral decisions by looking at the Five Precepts and the Noble Eightfold Path.
  • In computing, we practised our typing skills. The children were encouraged to keep working on this at home, using Dance Mat Typing.

PE and swimming

First of all, it was a shame that Mr. Burrows’s class weren’t able to go swimming on Tuesday. The swim teacher was ill, unfortunately. It’s a tricky decision (we don’t want either class to miss out), but we’re going to keep with the original schedule this week. This means that Miss Lunnon’s class should come to school with swimming gear on Tuesday, and Mr. Burrows’s class should come ready for PE.

It’s also very important that everyone comes to school wearing PE kit on Monday, because, as well as PE in the afternoon, we’re going to be outside doing active things in the morning. Thank you.

Christmas Carol Service

Thank you to those of you who have helped their children to learn our year group Christmas song, ready for Thursday’s carol service. We’re getting better with every practice! As it’ll be dark, the children won’t have their lyrics in front of them, so, if you can, please help them to learn the lyrics off by heart. There aren’t too many of them, so hopefully it won’t be too tricky.

We would also like to encourage as many of you as possible to come to the concert on Thursday evening at 6pm. We want it to be an event for the whole community, and you and your children’s attendance will make the night that little bit more special. Refreshments (including mulled wine) will be available from 5.45pm. Keep watching our social media channels for more information.

We hope you have a restful weekend, and we will see your children bright and early for the final Monday morning in school of 2024!
