Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. Thank you to those of you who booked in to speak to us for parent consultations this week. It is always a pleasure to catch up with you, and we hope you found it useful. If you didn’t manage to book one in but would like to speak to us, that’s fine! Get in touch with the office and we will be able to organise something for you.
This week, your children have been up to the following:
- In literacy, the children have been writing instructions for making a vegetarian bird feeder. (In case you’re wondering why we make vegetarian ones, Mr. Burrows tried making lard balls with his class once and the smell was still in the classroom two weeks later!)
- In maths, we getting towards the end of our addition and subtraction unit of work.
- In topic, we learned about how the city of London has changed over the 2,000 years it has existed (when the Romans set up the settlement of Londinium). Next week, we’re staying on the theme of London, by making tourist pamphlets about the city.
- In computing, we learned about car simulators (and self-driving cars) by making a simple one in Scratch.
- In French, we learned how to say the days of the week.
PE and swimming
As well as PE for everyone on Monday, this week it is the turn of Mr. Burrows’s class to go swimming on Tuesday afternoon. Miss Lunnon’s class should come to school in PE kit on that day.
Christmas Carol Concert
As mentioned last week, you should have everything you need for your child to practise our song for the Christmas Carol Concert on Thursday 19th. We would really appreciate it if you could help your child learn the lyrics. Failing that, just playing the song so your child can sing along would be extremely helpful.
We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning.
