Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Term 1 Week 7 update

Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. As much as we enjoy our jobs, we can’t believe there is still another week of term left! We are very much running on fumes, and so we understand that your children are in need of a break. One week to go!

This week, we have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have started to plan our rainforest-themed non-fiction reports. Next week, we’ll be writing them up and making some nice displays with them.
  • In maths, we have been working on exchanges. Next week, some of the children will be using their place value knowledge to order numbers by size. Click here for a quick explainer on place value.
  • In topic, we had the first of two lessons on deforestation. This week, it was about the causes and reasons why it happens, and next week we will talk about the effects.
  • In computing, we learned how to make our characters move on Scratch. Next week, we’ll make them talk!
  • Instead of RE this week, we discussed the importance of Black History Month and learned about famous Black figures across history.

PE and swimming

As well as PE for everyone on Monday (please bring spare clothes in case of bad weather), Mr. Burrows’s class will go swimming on Tuesday. Miss Lunnon’s class will do PE on that afternoon.

Nothing else to report! We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early for the last Monday of Term 1!
