The Oxfordshire application portal for entry to secondary schools in September 2025 is now open. The schools admission officer stressed the need for parents to apply on time, with more than one choice of school, and preferably online rather than on paper.
Here is the link for the online application (for children who live in Oxfordshire):
OCC secondary school application portal
The deadline for applications is 31st October 2024 and you will find out which school your child has been offered on the National Offer Day on 3rd March 2025. if you live outside Oxfordshire please visit your local authority website for their application portal.
If you miss the deadline, your application will be processed later in the year, making you less likely to secure a place at a preferred school.
Many, but not all, secondary schools have catchment areas. Where your child has a catchment area school, they may have a higher priority for a place, but it isn’t guaranteed. If there are more applications than places, OCC follow the school’s published admission rules to decide priority. There are other factors, such as whether a child has a brother or sister at the school or whether they have special educational needs. Religious or faith schools could use the religion of your child or family as a deciding factor.
You can see the admission rules for all state-funded secondary schools, and how places were allocated on the OCC list of schools.
If your child is going to attend an independent school, you must tell OCC the school name in writing as soon as possible. If you are going to educate your child at home or you are leaving Oxfordshire let them know as soon as possible by contacting the Admissions Team. This will make your place available for another child.
Last year children from SCPS went to these schools: Destinations
16 to Gillotts, 8 to Highdown, 8 to Langtree, 23 to MECE, 2 to Shiplake College, One to each of : Forest School, St Andrew’s, St Joseph’s College and Leighton Park.
You already had this list in Year 5 but here is an updated version of our Secondary School Open Days for entry Sep 2025. We would strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to visit in person to see if the school is suitable for your child and their needs. Please let the school office know if your child will be at any of these events during the school day as this really helps us with our planning and curriculum coverage on those days.
