We hope you all enjoyed last week’s gorgeous weather! This term we will be learning about animals so, to bring the topic to life we are planning to hatch some chicks! We have told the children and set up the incubator and hope to put the eggs in on Tuesday or Wednesday this week. The eggs should take roughly 3 weeks to hatch (fingers crossed) so hopefully we will have chicks later in the term.
This week we will be doing a lot of phonics practise in preparation for the Phonics Screening Check next week. Maths continues our work on fractions, this week looking at quarters.
We also have our trip on Wednesday to the Harcourt Arboretum – unfortunately the weather forecast is not good, so if your child has their own waterproofs for Forest Camp it would be a good idea to send them along. We have some spare waterproof trousers which we can loan to children if they don’t have their own. The children could wear trainers or wellies: wellies are not so comfortable to walk in but they do keep your feet dry!
P.E. will be on Friday, as usual, we are doing a combination of Maypole dancing and practise of Sports Day races.
Thanks,
The Year 1 Team
