Next week we will be updating our phonics assessments – the children have been working hard to learn new sounds, so it will be good to see where we’re at! We will also be getting our plans for catching a giant down on paper and talking about where capital letters are used.
In maths we will be moving on to some work on halving shapes and quantities, so you could entertain your child by getting them to halve fruit and veg in the kitchen! On Wednesday we are having a whole-school day on geography and art and Year 1 will be looking at Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil and the work of Brazilian artist Romero Britto.
The sunflowers are doing really well and we will be sending them home to you at the end of next week to continue their growing at home: it would be great if you could send in photos and measurements once they are in flower! Below are some photos of this week’s measuring.
There is no swimming next week, but there is Forest Camp for the Air and Water teams on Monday.
Thanks,
The Year 1 Team
