Welcome to a new term! Apologies about the mix up over swimming: for the last two years Year 1 have not swum in term 4 and we thought that this would continue. Luckily we are able to continue to swim and haven’t missed anything as it was Year 2’s turn last week – phew!
Next week in literacy we will be learning about question words and using them to compose our own questions about Neil Armstrong. Our history topic will be Space exploration so we will also be learning about the life of Neil Armstrong and the first moon landing.
Maths is all about place value (tens and ones) with numbers up to 50 – recognising the numbers to 50 and being able to say how many tens and ones are in a given number. In PHSCE we are learning about what to do in an emergency, how to call the emergency services and what you might need to tell them. To support this, it would be really helpful if you could help your child to learn their address and talk to them about how they might go about calling.
This term in art we are exploring paper sculptures and in DT we are looking at different types of structures and developing our building skills. Science will be looking at seasonal change and in RE we will think about how different religions see God.
On Monday afternoon it is the turn of the Air and Water teams to go to Forest Camp, there is swimming on Wednesday and Thursday is World Book Day when the children will be able to come to school in their pyjamas/dressing gown and bring slippers for a relaxed day of enjoying some great stories.
