Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 2nd February

Next week KS1 are having a Mega Cake Sale after school on Thursday 5th February under the shelter on the KS1 playground. Please send us cakes to eat   sell in a named box or tin. We are hoping to buy some DT equipment with the proceeds! If anyone would like to help out with selling the cakes that would also be handy. Cakes can be bought with cash or cards.

In literacy next week we will be retelling the story of the Three Pigs and also starting to look at poetry with a focus on sharing and enjoying our favourites. With this in mind,  we thought that show and tell next week would be a good opportunity for the children to share a short poem that have learned at home – if that is something your child would enjoy. We are also learning the spellings of days of the week and the children are doing amazingly well with learning to join their letters.

Maths will be more addition and subtraction: as this week we have been practising number bonds to 10 and 20, here is a game to help them practise at home Hit the button

The paper making has gone quite well (eventually!) and we are hoping to use the paper we made for cards later in the term! On Monday Forest Camp is for the Earth and Fire teams. On Tuesday Blue Cross are visiting for an assembly about the things that pets need. Year 1 are not swimming next week.

Thanks,

The Year 1 Team
