The children have done really well this week and are quickly picking up their new routines. Next week we will be continuing with the shorter phonics sessions and daily handwriting to support the children’s letter formation and sitting their letters on the line.
We will also be thinking about keeping healthy and tasting different types of fruit. Our DT work this term is all about learning how to peel and chop fruit and veg and making healthy eating choices. Our designing task is to make a fruit kebab for a friend and so the children will be finding out which fruits their friends like and planning their kebabs this week. We will make pictograms showing our favourite fruits as a class and write simple sentences about them.
Maths next week is all about sorting objects in different ways (by colour, size, or type) and there will be lots of practical sorting activities going on. Later on in the week there will be more activities on counting sets of objects.
The Earth and Fire teams will be going to Forest Camp on Monday afternoon and having a library visit on Tuesday afternoon. On Thursday morning we will be visited by a Police Community Support Officer to share a story about the work of PC Ben.
Thank you for taking the time to come to our Curriculum Sharing meeting on Thursday evening: I have put the notes from the meeting on the documents page of the website! If there are any questions that you would still like to ask, you can always pop in.
Regards,
The Year 1 Team.
