Welcome to Year 1!
The children have settled in really well so far and we are trying to keep everything quite relaxed whilst they adjust to their new routine and the new members of staff working with them.
This week we will be starting short group phonics sessions every day, along with some handwriting practice. Other than that, each session will be a mixture of free play and and small group activities so that we can get to know the children and their skills and interests. Your child should have brought home a small timetable showing the days when there is Forest Camp, PE and swimming etc – it should be stuck on the front inside cover of their reading record book.
Forest Camp is on Monday afternoon and the children go on alternate weeks: this week is the turn of the Air and Water teams. Our first swimming sessions will be on the afternoon of September 24th and we will be alternating weeks with Year 2. PE will be every Friday and the children come into school in their PE kit.
We are looking forward to seeing you all on our Curriculum Sharing evening on Thursday and a link for the meeting should be sent out during the week.
Regards,
The Year 1 Team

Just a quick ask for forest camp..
Do the children need just wellies and a pair of waterproof trousers or come in wearing their own long sleeved tops and tracksuit bottoms with waterproofs and wellies.
Many thanks
Hi,
Generally the children need wellies and, in the cooler weather, warm clothes as well as a coat that you don’t mind getting muddy. The school has waterproof trousers but you are welcome to send your own if you prefer.
Hope this helps!
