Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 11th November

Welcome to the new – very busy – term!

The children seemed to have coped really well with the class changes, but please do let us know if you have any concerns.

Our topic for this term is ‘Toys’, and this week we will be talking about the children’s own favourite toys (they don’t need to bring them in!) and why they like them. In computing we are using programmable toys (Beebots) and giving them simple instructions.

In maths we are doing a block of work on addition and subtraction and exploring different ways that this can be represented with equipment (using counters, part whole models, pictures etc). There is a lot of new vocabulary for them to learn: total, plus, add, more, equals. Here is a simple addition game that your child could play to practise – it can be made harder if needed: Smoothie game

The Air and Earth teams are going to Forest Camp on Monday and PE is on Wednesday afternoon every week. Miss Bartlett’s class will be swimming this week.
