Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 7th October

It’s getting all autumnal now isn’t it? Conkers, wet leaves and drizzle! This week the children will continue making observations of the weather and looking at the dangers of different types of weather. We will also be talking about seasonal change and what to look for in different seasons and making leaf rubbings.

We will be reading the story of the colour monster as a starting point for talking about different feelings and, later in the week, we will be reading a Supertato story and making wanted posters for the Evil Pea!

Maths this week is about ordering numbers and ordinal numbers (first, second etc). This game, Caterpillar Ordering,  is good for practice at home. Most of the children made their fruit kebabs on Friday but there are a few who will do theirs this week. Here are some photos of their delicious work!

The Air and Earth teams have Forest Camp this week, and swimming is now on alternate weeks, so if your child did not swim last week then they will swim in the coming week.

Thanks,

The Year 1 team
