Thank you so much for your support of the cake sale! We don’t know exactly how much has been raised as yet – but there definitely seems to be enough for the DT equipment we were hoping to buy. The children have worked really hard this week, but there has obviously been a bug going round so we hope that they are able to rest and recover over the weekend.
Next week we will be assessing the children’s progress in phonics so that we can re-group them for after half term. We will continue to look at a variety of poetry, especially riddles, and will have a go at writing our own.
In maths we will continue working on subtraction, but will also keep revisiting number bonds and doubles to build build the children’s confidence and recall – the Hit the Button game from last week is really good for this. On Monday Forest Camp will be for the Air and Water teams: it is incredibly muddy everywhere now, so prepare for the worst!! We will send all the Forest Camp kits home at the end of the week. On Tuesday it is Safer Internet Day and the theme this year is AI. Obviously Year 1 is quite young to be using AI, but here is a link to some useful suggestions in relation to ages 3-7 (further down the page): Safer Internet Day
On Wednesday we are swimming. On Thursday afternoon Science Oxford are coming to give us a session on ‘Floaty Boats’ which should be fun, and on Thursday evening there is the PTA disco (4.15-5.15pm).
Thanks,
The Year 1 Team
