Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 1st December

We have a very busy week ahead as the Nativity rehearsals get serious and I am looking forward to having a good chat with you all at our Parent Consultation meetings on Tuesday and Thursday! A link for the meetings will be sent out soon if your meeting is online.

Literacy will be based around the story of ‘The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark’ and the use of descriptive language. In maths, after several weeks on addition and subtraction, we are moving on to shape and recognising and naming 2D and 3D shapes (any practice at home greatly appreciated). Thank you for sending in your Toys questionnaires  – keep them coming! We will also be painting snowy pictures for our Christmas cards -speaking of which, if your child would like to give Christmas cards to friends we will have a post box in the classroom and then have a ‘delivery’ session after lunch.

There is no swimming this week and it is the turn of the Air and Water teams to go to Forest Camp on Monday.

Thanks,

The Year 1 Team
