Thank you so much for your support with the sponsored dancing – the children were very enthusiastic about both the dancing and compiling a playlist! The forms and money raised will need to be sent into school by the end of next week. We are still collecting recycled materials for junk modelling, so keep sending it in.
Next week, as it’s the last week of term 1, we will be assessing all the children in phonics and regrouping them for the new term. We will be talking about seasonal change and all the things that we can see happening around us at this time of year and then using this knowledge to build simple sentences to describe what autumn is like. If you are out at the weekend walking, then encouraging your child to talk about the changes in the animals and plants around them will be very helpful!
‘Show and tell’ this week led to some discussion around the children’s interests outside of school, and we thought it might be a good idea to encourage the children to use show and tell next week to talk about their hobbies, sports and interests as a way to get to know them better.
Maths next week moves on from place value to a new block of work on addition and subtraction. The children will be learning about part-whole models, writing simple number sentences and fact families, as well as number bonds to 10 and 20. Here is a link to one of our ‘Maths Made Clear’ videos about addition that explains some of the things that your children will be learning: How do primary schools teach addition?
On Monday afternoon it is the turn of the Air and Water teams to visit Forest Camp and on Wednesday afternoon we are swimming.
