We will be beginning this term with some work in history about Space exploration and then later on, we will be learning about seasonal change and spring. The frogs are already descending on the school pond!
The space theme should also provide opportunities for some exciting descriptive writing. Next Thursday is World Book Day and all the children are invited bring in a pair of slippers or something comfortable to wear on their feet on that day, along with something that they would really like to read: a favourite book, a comic, a football programme, a recipe book, a Guinness Book of Records or something else entirely, provided it can be read. There will be lots of story-telling sessions by different members of staff so that we can all immerse ourselves in the joy of books to share.
In our maths lessons we will move on from addition and subtraction to place value with numbers to 50. Here is an easy, fun game to practise place value: Shark Numbers
In art and DT this term we will be looking at sculpture and structures and enjoying lots of construction. To begin with we are building colourful tube towers and looking at different types of packaging. In computing we are learning to how to use a search engine to find space pictures and then copy and paste them into a document – which will probably take some time…
Forest Camp this week will be for the Fire and Water teams and PE will be on Wednesdays again and is all about bat and ball skills.
