Having practised our pig/wolf drawing skills last week, this week we will be describing the different characters in the story, and in particular the character of the Big Bad Wolf! Every morning, when they arrive, the children are now writing a sentence to go with a picture so they get lots of practise in remembering the basics: starting with a capital letter, ending with a full stop, and leaving spaces between words. The joined up handwriting is going well, but is definitely a challenge – we have only used i, l, t and u so far. On the documents page, there is an example of the letter formation that we are teaching.
On Monday evening there is the PTA AGM, a good opportunity if you are interested in joining our lovely PTA or have questions that you would like to ask our new Headteacher, Mrs Salmons. Maths this week moves on to comparing and ordering numbers to 20; and in science we will be starting to talk about the properties of different materials so there will be lots of new vocabulary: hard/soft, rough/smooth, flexible/rigid, transparent/opaque and shiny/dull. This will take a while, and lots of opportunities to use these new words. On Tuesday we are finally having the Toys Day that we missed last term (and this should be quite useful for vocabulary as well.) Thank you so much to the parents who have been willing to spend the day with us!
Forest Camp on Monday is for the Air and Earth teams.
PE is on Wednesday as usual and Miss Bartlett’s class will be swimming on Thursday afternoon.
