Term 6 Week 6 update

Hello, and welcome to your penultimate Year 5 update! Another tricky week in terms of heat, but your kids have been hard-working and good-humoured throughout.

This week, we’ve been up to the following:

  • It’s been assessment week, so children have been tested on their maths (both arithmetic and problem solving), reading comprehension, grammar & punctuation and spelling. As mentioned before, they worked extremely hard and took everything with extremely good grace.
  • In topic, we recapped compass points.
  • In art, we completed out portrait poems.
  • On Thursday, the school took part in Sustainability Day. This gave everyone lots of opportunities to think about how small changes can make a big impact. Year 5’s topic was ‘sustainable communities’.

No homework

There is no Spelling Shed or TTRS set for this week, so please do not worry about getting it completed for Thursday.

School reports

We hope you enjoyed reading your child’s school report on Friday. If you have any feedback, please do fill out the accompanying form.

Meet the Teach

On Thursday morning, the children will be put into their new classes for Year 6 and meet their teachers for next year. Please do remind your children that our teachers do move around (and leave) each year, so this year’s line-up is most likely not the same as next year’s!

PE (and Friday afternoon)

We will only have PE on Monday afternoon this week (weather permitting), as school finishes at 1.15pm Friday afternoon. Don’t forget!

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning (the final Monday morning of Year 5!).
