Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Welcome to Term 6!

Hello, and welcome to the first post of the final term of Year 5! It seems crazy to us that the year has flown by this quickly.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have started our new topic of biographies by studying two different people: Greta Thunberg and the footballer, John Charles. Next week, we’ll focus on the subject ofour biographies, Roald Dahl.
  • In maths, we have either been looking at statistics, or working on converting units (including going from imperial to metric).
  • In geography, we started our mini topic of ‘Enough for Everyone’ by using maps to find out where our major power stations are.
  • In French, we had our Italian fashion show! More on that in a sec.
  • In PSHE, we started our new topic of Safety and the Changing Body.

Italian fashion show

A big thank you to everyone who attended our Italian fashion show – it was absolutely bellissima. Thanks also to those of you who helped your children practise and learn their lines. They did an incredible job! We filmed it, so you should soon be able to watch it if you weren’t able to attend.

Playtimes

This is a quick notice to say that our policy has changed on playtimes somewhat, in that we intend to stay outside regardless of the weather (unless in extreme circumstances). That means that it would be hugely helpful if you could assist your children to be prepared for unpredictable weather (raincoats, hats, etc.). Thank you!

PE

PE will be on Monday and Friday this week (unless your child is at Forest Camp), and they will both be outdoors, so please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the (hopefully) clement conditions.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning.
