Term 5 Week 3 update

Hi everyone,

Let’s hope this glorious weather continues for a little while longer! While it does, however, please make sure you are doing all you can to keep your children safe. Sunscreen might be a good idea, as well as sending your child into school with a hat. Please also make sure that your child comes to school with a water bottle.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, our sequels to This Is NOT A Fairy Tale are really coming together! We’ll finish them next week, and start a new unit on playscripts.
  • In maths, some children have been learning about shapes and angles, and others have been finishing off work on understanding decimals.
  • In topic, we continue to learn about the Ancient Maya. Some of us looked at Maya writing, and others learned about Maya food.
  • In science, Mr Andrews’ class invented and conducted an experiment testing what makes a good thermal inductor.
  • In DT, we started thinking about the ingredients we might need to make a healthy muffin.

Spelling words

This week, our spelling words are homophones or ‘near’ homophones. They are: advice, advise, device, devise, licence, license, practice, practise, prophecy and prophesy.

PE

PE will be on Friday this week and it will be outdoors, so please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the (hopefully) clement conditions.

Performance Evening and Chocolate Cake

We’re happy to say that the video recording of the school Performance Evening is now available to watch on our website. You can find it here. Mr Burrows is editing the Y5RB/TC class performance of Chocolate Cake – you’ll be able to see that early next week.

Bank holiday

Not that you need it, but this is a reminder that the school is closed on Monday as it is Bank Holiday.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Tuesday morning.
