Space to learn, grow and be inspired

End of Term 3 update

And just like that…the first half of Year 5 is done! Welcome to the final update of Term 3.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, it’s all been about poetry! We have been writing renga poems (ask your children!) and we have been reciting poetry to each other. It’s been absolutely brilliant.
  • In maths, we’ve either been looking at fractions, or we’ve spent a bit of time recapping some of the learning we’ve done over the year so far.
  • In history, we learned about the Siege of Troy, and the story of the Trojan Horse. Alongside that, we also made Greek flatbreads and got to try some Greek foods, such as feta cheese and olives.
  • In science, we finished off our investigation about air resistance by analysing our results and writing a really good conclusion.
  • In PE, we’ve been working on our fitness through exercise circuits. Mountain climbers were a particular favourite this week!

Safer Internet Day

On Tuesday, Year 5 marked Safer Internet Day, which this year focused on ‘Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.’ We discussed how we engage with AI on a daily basis, what are acceptable and unacceptable uses for it, and what to do AI makes us feel uneasy or upset.

Spelling words

No spelling words this week as it’s half term!

PE

When we return, PE will still be on Monday and Friday, and they will both be outdoors, so please make sure your children wrap up warm on both those days. In addition, Friday’s session will be on the field so please make sure your children come to school with a spare pair of footwear.

We hope you have a lovely break, and we will see your children bright and early on the morning of Monday 23rd February.
