Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 5 update. Can you hear that? Could it be…the distant sound of festive bells ringing just around the corner? No? Not yet? Oh, sorry. My mistake.
This week, your children have been up to the following:
- In literacy, we have been writing up our diary entries, based on the book Street Child. Next week, we’ll start thinking about writing reports about Victorian workhouses.
- In maths, we have either been working hard on fractions or learning about long multiplication and short division.
- In DT, we started to make the structures for our Victorian Age cam toys (thank you for the cardboard!)
- In music, we’ve continued to work on learning the recorder.
- In science, we dissected flowers to learn about how flowering plants reproduce.
PE
PE will be on Monday and Friday this week, and they will both be outdoors, so please make sure your children wrap up warm on both those days. In addition, Friday’s session will be on the field so please make sure your children come to school with a spare pair of footwear.
Forest Camp
Mr Burrows and Mr Coates’s class will be going to Forest Camp over the next two Friday afternoons:
- 5th & 12th December
On the day of your child’s Forest Camp session:
- They may come to school in their Forest Camp clothes: any long-sleeved top and trousers that you don’t mind getting dirty!
- They need to wear their school shoes or clean trainers in the morning as they will be in the classroom as normal.
- They need to bring wellies and waterproofs (in a separate bag) to wear in the afternoon.
5th December, 5RBTC:
