Hello and welcome to another weekly Year 5 update. A incredibly big thank you for all of you who contributed to the Fundraising Day. We are still totting up the final total, but your generosity has blown us away! We also wanted to offer a huge vote of thank for those people who contributed to the Year 5 Bake Off with some incredible Showstoppers! What an amazing Year 5 community we have.
This week, we have been up to the following:
- In literacy, some of us have been writing poetry and others have been continuing to work on the first book of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
- In maths, one group has been working on multiplication & division, and others have started looking at fractions.
- In geography, we were learning about biomes and ecosystems. We also made boomerang kazoos (sorry!) and learned to play the didgeridoo in our brilliant Australia workshop.
- In science, we learned about the phases of the moon. Watch this great experiment for more. You might want to try it at home!
- In art, we used our mark-making skills and experience to create some brilliant self portraits.
PE
Please remember that PE days are Mondays and Fridays and children should be dressed accordingly. Please also remember to make sure your child brings in a spare pair of footwear on Fridays as they will be out on the field.
School photos and Christmas cards
You should have received order cards for both the school portraits that were taken earlier this week and your child’s Christmas card designs. If you haven’t, please get in touch with your teacher.
We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning for the final week of Term 1!
