Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 5 update! We hope that the INSET day has treated you and your children well. Teachers have spent the day talking about lots of new vand exciting writing opportunities that your children will be taking part in over the year.

This (truncated) week, your children have been up to the following:

• In literacy, some of us have been continuing to work on poetry and others have started to read The Bad Beginning, which is the first of the A Series Of Unfortunate Events books.
• In maths, we have either been practising addition and subtraction, or we have worked on multiplication and division.
• In geography, we recapped latitude and longitude lines, and discussed why the clocks go back later in the month.
• In art, we prepared a memory drawing (concentrating on thickness of lines to show tome) for some block printing next week.
• In science, we learned about why planets have daytimes and nighttimes.

PE

Please remember that PE days are Mondays and Fridays and children should be dressed accordingly. Please also remember to make sure your child brings in a spare pair of footwear on Fridays as they will be out on the field.

School photos

Individual and family portraits will be taken on Tuesday, so please make sure your child is wearing correct school uniform.
