Term 2 Week 1 update

Hello, and welcome to Term 2! Your children have settled back into school nicely, and we’re straight back into the swing of things.

This week, we have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have started reading Street Child, which is our focus book for the term.
  • In maths, some of us are working on fractions, while others are ploughing on with multiplication and division.
  • In topic, we’ve started our new history topic of The Victorians. This week, we looked at life in Victorian times (both for rich people and poor).
  • In science, our new topic focuses on living things and their habitats. This week, we used the laptops to research famous natural scientists (such as David Attenborough and Steve Backshall).
  • In DT, we started to design our version of a classic Victorian toy using a cam mechanism.

PE

We will have PE on Monday this week, but please be aware that there will be no PE on Friday this week. Please send your children in school uniform on Friday. The reason for this is…

Milestones Museum trip – 14th November

We’re going on a trip on Friday! We will be departing from school at 9.15am so there is no need to get in any earlier, and we will be back at around 3pm (meaning you should pick up at the normal time). Again, please make sure your children come to school in uniform, and that they bring in a packed lunch and water (unless you have ordered a lunch via the office).

Fire and Rescue Safety talk

We will also have a visitor in on Monday afternoon for a talk on fire and road safety. You will receive a PDF of an accompanying handbook that covers the important messages covered.

We hope you have a brilliant weekend, and we will see your children bright and early tomorrow morning.
