End of Term 1 update

Hello, and welcome to the final weekly post of Term 1! We’re simultaneously wondering where the time has gone but also exhausted that the term has been so long! Not sure how that works. Anyway, we wanted to say how incredibly hard your children have worked so far this year. It’s a pleasure to teach them.

This week, we have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have either been working on grammar and punctuation or we’ve been finishing some writing based on Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Next term, we’ll be looking at the book Street Child.
  • In maths, we have either started working on multiplication and division or we’re deep into fractions. That will continue next term.
  • In science, we finished our unit on Earth, the Moon and the planets. Next term, it’ll be a biology unit on animals and their habitats.
  • In music, Mr Burrows’s class has been lucky enough to have Mr Marples come in to teach recorders. Next term, he will be with Mr Andrews’s class.
  • In indoor PE this term, we’ve been dancing through the decades! This week, it was the 1990s.

Pencil cases

Please help your children to come back to school with the correct equipment. In particular, if you could provide them with glue sticks, we would be hugely grateful.

Homework

A quick reminder that your children are not expected to be doing TTRS and Spelling Shed for the next couple of weeks (although we would recommend continuing with TTRS in particular). They should, however, be filling in their reading records as normal over the holiday.

PE

PE will still be on Mondays and Fridays next term, so please send your child into school in the correct kit on the first day back.

We hope you have a wonderful half term break, and we will see your children bright and early on the morning of Monday 3rd November!
