Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Term 2, Week 6

Dear parents,

We are nearing the end of term now…the nativity is in sight! The children have worked so hard this week to polish off their performance ready for next week. On Monday we will be doing our dress rehearsal to KS1, and on Tuesday we are hoping to see as many of you as possible here to watch our show! The performance will start at 2:30pm. Please arrive from 2:15pm. We think the performance will last about 25 minutes. The children will then come back to the classroom to get changed before going home. You are welcome to stay in the Kites garden after the performance and collect your child when they are ready to go home.

We have enjoyed a range of books this week, delivered by our Christmas Elf. On Friday the children were inspired by the books we have read, and created their own wonderful festive stories.

In phonics we have continued to recap the sounds, focusing on embedding the learning of the sounds we already know.

In maths we have been looking at patterns, seeing if we can make patterns on Christmas trees, and continuing the Christmas patterns too.

We were very lucky on Thursday to watch the KS1 nativity. We enjoyed their fantastic show, and we can’t wait to perform our nativity to them next week.

A few notes about next week. Towards the end of the week, the children will bring home their PE kits and their forest camp kits to be washed ready for the new term. A couple of afternoons next week, we will put out the lost property which we have acquired since September. Please check to see whether any of it belongs to you. Just a reminder to name all clothing that comes into school with your child, so that we are able to reunite it!

Just a reminder: on Friday we have a half day, we will be finishing at 1:15, there will be no afterschool club. Just as normal, please come to the playground where we will send the children home from on Friday, after lunch time.

You may have seen on the newsletter that on Wednesday evening we are holding our annual Christmas carol concert. Although the Kites won’t be performing, you are more than welcome to come and join us for a Christmas sing song. There are many well known songs that we can all join in with.
