Dear parents,
We have been very pleased to have slightly cooler weather this week. The children have enjoyed a week of sports, and a sensory walk! The children have also worked hard to complete their writing about sports day too!
Sports day was spectacular, we were so proud of the way the children took it in their stride and enjoyed racing with their friends. Thank you for coming to support, I hope you agree that it makes it a very special day for the children. Next Thursday we will be finishing off the races that we didn’t get a chance to do (sack and caterpillar). Unfortunately parents will not be able to come and watch, but we will try our best to take photos to upload to Evidence Me for you all to see.
Following sports day, the children spent time towards the end of the week writing about the races they took part in and what they enjoyed. It was lovely to see them excited to write about such a great day.
On Thursday we went on an amazing sensory walk. We read the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ before going down to the paddock and walking through: shredded cardboard, baked beans, jelly, mud, and ice water. The children (and adults) all loved the experience! I will upload some photos for you to see on Evidence Me.
This week we have continued to review the sounds in phonics. We have really been focusing on reading words, and oral blending. Here is a fun blending game you might like to try at home.
Next week it’s due to be quite hot again. Please could you make sure that children come into school adequately dressed, with sunhats and sun cream. We will make sure we do lots of water play to keep as cool as possible, so if you think your child might need a spare set of clothes, please bring one in. We will be starting to think about the transition up to year 1, and on Thursday we have a very exciting Sustainability Day planned.
On Wednesday 15th July, there will be a singing performance by Kites, for parents to come and watch. This will be on the KS1 playground, and we will be able to open the gates at 2:25pm, in preparation for the performance. The children have been working really hard to learn a range of songs, and we are all really excited to show you, so we hope you can make it!
You will have received you child’s end of year report today. Inside the envelope there is a feedback form in case you had any comments or would like to discuss anything further.
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Snowden
