Dear parents,
We have had a brilliant week this week, learning all about properties of materials, and eggs. We started the week by reading the story ‘Egg Drop’, and finished the week by creating our own safe carriers to drop our eggs! Needless to say not all were safe, we had some egg casualties, but we had lots of fun whilst doing it. I’m sure the children will love telling you about their successes!
This week we have continued to review the sounds in phonics. We have really been focusing on reading words, and oral blending. Here is a fun blending game you might like to try at home.
In maths we have been looking at weighing and measuring, we have had a lot of fun measuring with water, which has a dual purpose of cooling us down in the heat. We have also been revising our number bonds to 10 and odd and even numbers. Here are some games you might like to play at home.
Next week we are going to be looking at Nature, in our Nature Discovery week. I’m sure you will have seen that we have postponed sports day, due to the rising temperatures. With that in mind, it is important that your children come to school with a water bottle and a hat. Please apply sun cream before they come to school. We are making sure that the children have regular drinks breaks and we are topping up their water bottles as required, so if you notice that your child has come home with a fullish water bottle, please be reassured that they have had lots of drinks during the day, we are just topping them up.
