Dear Parents,
I think the highlight of everyone’s week was today! The children enjoyed dressing up as a range of characters, from princesses to superheroes to celebrate the King’s birthday! We started the day with a Helicopter Story all about the King’s birthday, where the children enjoyed taking on character roles within the story, then finished off the afternoon with a jousting competition on Hobby Horses, and a tea party! I will get some photos onto Evidence Me next week.
We have been refining our sports day skills in PE, in preparation for Sports Day on the 23rd June. Please could you make sure that your children have a school PE kit in school with training shoes that fit them.
In preparation for the Summer Fair, we are also working on our Maypole Dancing skills. The children have enjoyed practicing, and are continuing to practice next week. We hope many of you can make it to the Summer Fair. Our Maypole Performance is at 12:15 on Saturday 27th June.
We have also been celebrating Great Big Green week, we have spent a lot of time discussing what positive impacts we have on the planet, and the children enjoyed saving the animals from the plastic infested water after reading ‘Someone Swallowed Stanley’.
We are starting to talk to the children now about moving up to year 1. We are making sure they feel familiar with the idea of moving classes, and have been spending time in the year 1 classroom in small groups, on a Monday afternoon. We will continue to do this to ensure the transition up to year 1 is as smooth as possible.
Next week we will be channelling our scientific brains to see if we can work out how to keep an egg safe when we drop it at height! The children will be working in small groups to design and make a container for their eggs to keep them safe when we drop them….hopefully we won’t have too much mess to clear up.
The children may have spoken to you about preparing a performance for the end of the year. We have been working hard to polish up our singing, to show you at the end of term. We are just finalising the date for this, and as soon as I have this finalised I will let you know.
Upcoming dates:
Tuesday 23rd June – Sports day (Children come to school in a t-shirt of their house colour)
Friday 26th June – Non-uniform day
Friday 3rd July – PTA colour run
Friday 17th July – Finish school for Summer 1:15pm.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Snowden and the Kites team
