Dear parents,
This week there has been much excitement in the classroom with the arrival of our class elf. The children have enjoyed finding out what the elf has been up too each morning, and where he has been hiding. We have enjoyed reading a new ‘wrapped up’ story each day which has been kindly delivered by our elf too.
Our story of the week has been ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We have loved decorating paper gingerbread men, as well as baking delicious cookies too. We have had a go a sequencing the story to make sure the events are in the right order. The children have had lots of fun with this. We have finished writing our letter’s to Father Christmas, which will be ready to ‘send off’ in the classroom post box next week.
We have been recapping the sounds in phonics, and will continue to do this until the end of term. We are shifting our focus to our wonderful performance, using the time to practice the songs and our lines. We had a fantastic full rehearsal today which went really well. We will continue to practice next week ready for our performance on Tuesday 16th December.
In maths we have been playing number bingo! We have enjoyed playing altogether as a class crossing out the numbers on our whiteboards as we played. Maybe this is something the children could teach you at home?
On Tuesday we joined an online lesson all about ‘Festive Farming’. We learnt how to grow Christmas trees, thinking about where they come from and how we keep them healthy. We enjoyed making Christmas Eco Warrior baubles in celebration of the things we had learnt.
Next week we are going to be exploring why we have Christmas trees and how different people celebrate Christmas!
Friday 12th December – Christmas Jumper day
