It has come to our attention that we missed out this week’s swimming on the Parent Helpers Rota.

Mrs Fox’s class will be swimming on 3rd May and this will put all of the following swimming dates back one week.

Mrs Walmsley’s Class will be swimming on 10th May.

Many apologies and we will be sending out an amended Swimming dates rota asap.

This Week

by Year Two teacher on April 29, 2012

Year 2 will be working hard in Maths this week to create our own class calculation policy that will remind us of the methods we have to choose from when we try to solve a Maths problem. English will involve continuing to improve our ability to research factual information and then change this information into clear and interesting reports.
We will require some parents to come with us on our trip to Dinton Pastures on May 14th. Please speak to Mrs Fox or Mrs Walmsley if you are able to help. Many thanks.

This Week

by Year Two teacher on April 23, 2012

Year 2 have made a great start to the term. We have started to think about the topic of ‘Animals’ and have researched pets in preparation for writing a factual report. We have also written detailed descriptions of pets that we have at home or pets that we would like. Later on in the term we will be moving on from pets to look at dangerous animals. Addition and subtraction of two digit numbers is the focus in Maths this week. We will be looking at the different mental and written methods that are available to us. We have also been perfecting our ‘Maypole moves’ and look forward to showing them to parents at 3pm on Tuesday 1st May.

This week

by Year Two teacher on March 19, 2012

Maths lessons this week will be spent learning more about methods to help us multiply and divide numbers (with remainders!). Literacy will involve writing a fairytale with a twist. We will continue learning about Electricity in Science and Judaism in R.E lessons. On Wednesday we will be enjoying a Fairytale Craft Day and children may dress up as a fairy tale character for the day should they wish to do so.

This week

by Year Two teacher on March 11, 2012

We will continue to look at position in Maths and we will learn about coordinates. So if families have time this week to fit in a game of Battleships that would be most useful! This week is also Science Week, so we will be taking part in lots of activities to do with the school theme of ‘Motion’ and the Year 2 theme of Electricity. In Literacy we will be working on our ability to plan our writing and to write independently.
