Recount of a cross country run

by Year Six child on October 17, 2011

Many runners turned up to the cross country run last weekend. It was at Chiltern Edge and loads of Sonning Common runners gathered under our flag. This year the course was so much longer, so most people walked the new course before the trace started. It was a chilly morning, and everyone was huddled up in a jumper. The grass was dewy and loads of acorns where scattered across the ground. Mrs Salmons was there to cheer us on, and as soon as the first race started we ran to the clearing where the runners would come through the woods. Every runner in year one did very well, as it was their very first time running.
Soon after, the junior races started, and we started the massive race. Everyone in the juniors did extremely well and most finished with rosy pink cheeks. Next was the award ceremony, we were very happy to see so many of our runners getting medals. Everyone did so well and we hope that even more eager runners turn up and try their hardest next time.

Well done to those of you who have been doing your cycling proficiency. Homework is due in on Thursdays, don’t forget! Reading journals in on Tuesdays and swimming money and kit on Mondays. On Friday the year ones did a harvest assembly for us and a woman from the Trussle Trust came in. Also T.M Alexander (author) came in.
