Following on from our hands-on art sculptures last week, we have been doing yet more practical activities this week - but in science. Year 6 have been working on exciting investigations as part of Oxfordshire Big Science Week. Each group has set a question that they want to answer and planned and investigated to find the the results. They will then present their findings on a large poster which will be entered into the competition.
Interesting questions have been framed such as: which fizzy drink will make the dentist the most money? Which jelly is best for Ready, Steady Cook? Which shaped hull will win the Henley regatta? And many more.
The children have been working in teams and using science skills including; fair testing, changing variables, observing, measuring and explaining conclusions. they will present their findings in graphs, charts, pictures and text using the minis to show off their ICT skills. Posters should be on display in KS 2 later in the term.
Check our the gallery for more pictures – some of which will be used on their posters. Please notice the use of safety equipment!

We love our Savannah Plains pictures made with watercolour washes. Then on top we painted acacia trees and African animals. Have a look!
We are also very proud of our traditional African masks decorated with raffia to make them look authentic.

Today we had Darcy Turner in to show us his inventions and help us to make fantastic sculptures. The kids worked so hard all day using wire and tags to create large sculptures which will be on show in Henley market square on Saturday March 20th.
We have yet to complete them, but are really pleased with our results so far. We have had a fantastic day!
