Last Friday a group of 20 very lucky Year Fives went with Madame Quinton and Mrs Hinkes to Chiltern Edge to see a production entirely in French by the group ‘Théâtre sans Frontières’ (theatre without borders) of two French tales. We had prepared them thoroughly in class but even so, the children excelled themselves in the workshop prior to the performance with huge enthusiasm and effort answering questions, learning vocabulary and dramatizing short scenes. I was very proud of them indeed. A big thank you must go to Madame Crawshaw of Chiltern Edge, who kindly arranged the whole afternoon for all the Primary schools which attended and Mrs Hinkes, who enabled the trip to take place by accompanying us.

Please note that there will be no year 5 swimming on Monday 8th March. This is because the year 6s will be going to do their swim for the Sports Relief Triathlon. If you have paid for your child’s swimming for the whole of the term please let us know and we will refund you £2.00. Back to normal next week!

This term the theme for the talks is performance poetry.  We are asking the children to learn a poem by heart (no notes may be used).  The poem should be a minimum of 8 lines.  There is no limit as to how long it can be!  As it is performance poetry the children can be as imaginative as they like – actions, props or even audience participation!
