On Friday 26th February fourteen pupils from Year 4 took part in an athletics competition at Gillotts School. Year 4 competed against three other schools in a variety of events including long jump, javelin and a mixture of relays. All of the children showed great enthusiasm and terrific teamwork, which resulted in an outstanding athletic performance. They came away feeling very proud that they had won the competition. Well done to all of the children involved – we are very proud of their attitude as well as their success.

A small group of us in Year 6 have been having bridge lessons at lunchtimes and On Thursday March 4th 2010 a mini bridge tournament took place. As me and my colleagues entered the great hall we were very well pampered with biscuits and treated like royalty by our friendly tutors. Before we could start we had to pick a partner and then the match began. The rivalry beamed like a ray of sunshine! The rules were simple – after 3 turns East and West would move to the next table to go against a different pair.

After 12 runs the devious Conner won by the skin of his teeth. I assure you, next time it will be different!!

Today 19 children from Kites, Year One and Year Two travelled to Henley to play in the annual Rupert House Football Festival. As always, the children represented our school amazingly well and enjoyed the challenge of a tournament. We didn’t win any medals, but had a fun-packed afternoon of good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Please be advised that the Mother’s Day Cook-in has been cancelled on Saturday 13th March 2010. We apologise to all those who may have wanted to attend.

We will be running another cooking event in the near future and will send out details in due course.

The Henley Youth Festival 2010 is fast approaching. As always, we’re entering teams into a number of tournaments and have signed up for many workshops. Check out everything we’re going to be getting up to by viewing our updated calendar.

We managed to raise an incredible £713 for the Haiti fund thanks to an amazing effort by children, parents and staff on Friday. This amount is well over double what we hoped to raise; well done everyone!

Today every class spent a few minutes outside laying silver coins down on a large map of Haiti. We’re not yet sure how much money everyone raised for the Haiti fund (there’s lots of counting to be done), but it’s a lot!
