Primary School Athletics Competition

by School staff on February 9, 2012

On Friday 17th January a team of 23 children from Years 5 and 6  took part in the Aviva Sportshall Primary School Athletics competition at Chiltern Edge School. Goring, Woodcote, Nettlebed and Kidmore End schools were also competing. The children competed in a range of running and field events including obstacle races and a 6 lap race which was very tiring.  All the children had been chosen on their strengths in particular areas. After two hours of frantic and very tough competition, the results were announced and Sonning Common came first. A fantastic result for us, and a great team event where all the children supported each other. We now go through with Kidmore End (who came second) to the next round in March to be held at Icknield. Well done to all those who took part and did their very best for their school, and thanks to the parents who came, walked the children to Chiltern Edge and supported with enthusiasm!
